Saif Ali Khan issues apology after his recent ‘will make Lankesh humane’ statement

Saif Ali Khan has issued an apology after his recent statement on Raavan. The actor said that his character ‘Lankesh’ in ‘AdiPurush‘ would justify Raavan’s abduction of Sita and the war with Lord Ram – which Saif said was revenge for what was done to Raavan’s sister Surpanakha.

The statement by Saif had hurt sentiments of a few netizens. They found the actor’s statement was offensive. Saif had now issued an apology for ‘causing controversy’ and ‘hurting people’s sentiments’. He clarified that was not his intention and thus he would withdraw his statement.

A statement from Saif read, “I’ve been made aware that one of my statements during an interview, has caused a controversy and hurt people’s sentiments. This was never my intention or meant that way. I would like to sincerely apologise to everybody and withdraw my statement.”

The actor also shared that he respects Lord Ram and the movie is indeed celebrating the victory of good over evil. “Lord Ram has always been the symbol of Righteousness & Heroism for me. Adipurush is about celebrating the victory of good over evil and the entire team is working together to present the epic without any distortions,” the statement further read.

Saif had said that Lord Ram’s brother Lakshman cut off Surpankha’s nose and thus her brother Raavan tried to take revenge from Lord Ram.

The actor had told Mumbai Mirror, “It’s interesting to play a demon king, fewer strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off her nose.”
